A Balinese retreat in the English countryside

Designed for a young professional seeking his own private oasis, The Lodge was created as a calm retreat from a busy lifestyle.

The challenge was to bring together working, entertaining, relaxing and sleeping within one generous open-plan space, while maintaining a sense of separation and calm.

Inspired by the surrounding countryside, I brought the natural landscape indoors through organic materials, bamboo detailing and a deep, immersive green palette. Layered textures, warm tones and carefully considered zoning create distinct areas within the open space, without compromising its sense of flow.

The result is a tranquil, characterful interior that combines the relaxed spirit of a Balinese retreat with the beauty of the English countryside.
